Diary of a bride

Upon being recently engaged (woot!) I have been bombarded by two questions - Where? And Wear?

Naturally, I have spent hours researching the ‘wear’, and may have let slide the where…

Can’t you just picture it now? Thank you lovely Collette Dinnigan

And then there is the adorable Rachel Gilbert, how I love thee...

Soft ballet-pink hues are sweet.

There is, of course, the illustrious designs of our overseas friends found at Net-A-Porter (thank you for being a part of my daily web life).

Issa gown from heaven.

And hey, if we aren’t looking at reception venues yet, why not get caught up looking for shoes. I would argue this is a very valuable use of time.

Jimmy Choo

Christian Louboutin

Shoes, glorious shoes!

Oh and while I’m at it, I might as well look at some honeymoon wear…

Cutler and Gross on Net-A-Porter.

Vintage bathers from an Aussie home girl My Sister Pat Hoot and holler!

I will never find a reception venue...

A Videographer's stunning craft

A photographer is on most of our essentials list when we are planning our wedding, but it has been the case that most couples were seeing videographers as a luxury.
Today, we are seeing more cinematic videos being produced, and as a result bride's are beginning to place wedding videos higher on their priority list.

Our friends at Cinemedia have shared this beautiful video they have created recently. Absolutely stunning guys - well done Cinemedia!

Romantic wedding out of a Jane Austin novel.

I have just put together our latest real life wedding. Gabrielle and John managed to create a romantic vintage wedding style that reflected their story-book love affair.

Here is how their story began... "In 1991 as a little 2 year old girl, I sat bouncing on 12-year-old John’s knee. He picked me up and played games with me, along with my brothers. Our families associated for many years until I reached the age of eight. My family moved to a different location and gradually we lost touch. Many years later when I was just 16, I was attending a luncheon when I saw a man I recognized talking to one of my friends. I asked a friend nearby who he was and she promptly replied, ' that’s John Tobin', with excitement I exclaimed, 'I knew it! I knew it!' The memories of the fun I had shared with him so many years ago still stood out in my mind, and from that day on our friendship began to blossom."

Gabrielle wanted to add her own personal touch and so created many of the details herself, including the invitations, ceremony programs, petal cones, place cards, bomboniere and pretty anything that could be made.

The most special moment for her was: "When the church doors opened and I started walking down the aisle I couldn't take my eyes off my husband who was fighting back the tears. This touched my heart. I struggled to hold it together when he started telling his own scripted vows to me! They were so heartfelt and truly amazing. That's when the day became so real to me."

Some ideas worth thinking about this Monday

It's Monday afternoon and I know that some, or probably most of you ladies are sitting behind a computer, as I am, while the sun is beaming down outside calling for us. Instead of obeying your human instinct to run outside with your arms spread ready to embrace the warmth, you have turned your attention towards your wedding! Who can blame you!
To cheer us all up I thought I'd take us on a trip around the world exploring possible honeymoon locations... just imagine... no computers; sun, glorious sun; a cocktail in hand; a couple of glossy magazines and your new husband reapplying suncream to your shoulders. Hmm.... OK let's go!

Mauritius
Whatever sort of honeymoon you're after, sunbathing resort style, mountain trekking, golfing, diving or deep sea fishing, Mauritius seems to have it! Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Madagascar and is officially part of Africa, even though it is 2400 Ks away.
Port Louis is a bustling port with a revitalized waterfront and busy market. But most visitors gravitate toward resort areas such as Mont Choisy. Quiet Trou-aux-Biches and more bustling Flic en Flac are popular with scuba divers.
Here are a couple of pics to kick start our world tour of luxurious resorts.

These amazing photos are from Le Mauricia Hotel.
Feeling a little more inspired?

Now to my absolute favourite place in the world. A big call I know.
Amalfi Coast, Italy.
Yes, It would cost a fair bit to make the trip all the way to Amalfi, but we're dreaming here aren't we? Amalfi is the ultimate, beautiful and cultural escape. Lounge around on their pebbly, but still stunning beaches, walk through their pastel coloured streets and smell the wafting scents of the lemon grove and the brightly coloured bougainvillea.
This romantic, historic and culturally rich place is the ideal place to enjoy the first weeks of your married life.

Wow, right?

Our next stop is...
Jamaica
Now there is plenty to do in this Caribbean country, but however active you decide you want to make it - it is an absolute MUST to sit down and soak in the rays on one of their many stunning beaches. Jamaica stretches 140 miles from east to west and there are heaps of stunning places to visit all offering something different. The best thing to do is go on a few day trips. The most popular amongst honeymooners is said to be Negril. Negril is known for it's black cliffs, azure water and mellow vibes. Negril's casual, laid-back pace and natural beauty are a feast for the eyes and soul. Here, anything goes and everyone’s welcome.

Mellow - Loving the sound of that...

The final place I am taking you is closer to home... so may even be achievable!

Thailand
You can pretty much have any type of honeymoon here! You can stay in the bustling city of Bangkok or retreat up into the mountains and stay in isolated cultural villages, head out for a 3 or 5 day trekk with a tour group.... or my favourite... as it seems today - a beach resort.
Planning a honeymoon in Thailand is a synch! There are so many resorts set up for couples just like you and many of them offer special honeymoon packages. So jump on the internet and start your search!
Here are a few visual ideas on Thailand of where you could stay.

That concludes our trip around the world. I did focus on a sun-lovers dream honeymoon because that is what I ended up craving after missing out on enjoying the beautiful weather today. I'm not sure whether I feel better now, or even more keen to get out there and relax in the sun.
I hope this inspired you to plan your dream getaway with your new husband.
Next Monday I might cover more local destinations for the realists among us.
