Engagement party inspiration...

It is here. The time is approaching for the wedding practice run.

The good? Our list of things to get ready is considerably shorter than the wedding, so three cheers for that. The bad? Who knew that you invite every person you have ever met to this get together that is steadily growing to be the biggest shindig I will probably ever throw. The ugly…? My bridezilla-ish tendencies are lurking just around the corner staring at me.

Naturally I have been bypassing the logistics and poring over ideas for decorating and tantalising the taste buds - these ones just whisk me away:

A bouquet just right for you

The flowers you hold as you walk down the aisle, revealing to your beloved just how amazingly beautiful his future wife is, are an extremely important accessory than could make or break your whole look.... OK it might not be that drastic, but it will look a lot better if you pick the right style for your dress.

To make this decision easy here are a few beautiful bouquets, which I have used as examples of the typical shapes you can choose. I have written what dress styles go with each shape. Easy!

A posy bouquet - Circular in shape.
To suit dress style - Any

Formal bouquet - Circular with an even edge of foliage boardering the flowers.
To suit dress style: Ballgown, slim-line, A-line, detailed gown.

Informal posy - flowers less uniform.
To suit casual style dresses of any shape or length.

Shower bouquet - Top consists of a posy, then flows down into a single narrow, long trail.
This style suits slim-line and A-line gowns with little to no detail on the front of the dress.

The feathered Rose

The Sheaf-style bouquet.
These bouquets go well with dresses that have less detail on the bodice. Suits A-line, slim-line, fishtail and ballgowns.

Perfect for a garden wedding, these bouquets go well with most dress styles, however if you are wearing a ballgown - it's best to stick to a bouquet that is more formal.

This is a rough guide to get you started. If you are in love with a style of bouquet - make sure you talk to your florist about your gown shape and discuss the suitability with them!
