A celebration was had by all

Last night our Publisher, Victoria Black, and Account Manager, Liana Bowes, were privileged to attend the "Black Diamond" opening night of the new Le Montage.

"The freshly renovated venue is truly magical, overlooking the water with gorgeous trees embellished with twinkling fairy-lights. Flame throwers and lively musicians greeted the guests as impeccable staff served the thousand-odd crowd with divine apple martinis, sparkling champagne and peach cocktails and tasty little mouthfuls of yum!
Fireworks over the water heralded the official opening and the party went off with a bang!
Politicians rubbed shoulders with Sydney's elite event managers, media and the Italian glitterati. Dramatic black with glamour and massive bling was a visual feast for all. The expert wait-staff moved us gently from room to room as even more divine designer details were revealed... pill-box girls with trays of sweet bubbly, which they actually wore as a dress (very hard to describe - the trays came out from their waist and were attached to their bodice), glided around their impressed audience.
Every function room was simply stunning - an unbelievable place for a wedding."

Diary of a bride

This week has flown by. Assignments are approaching, uni exams loom, and all the while these things that would usually stress me are strangely faint in the distance. The ever-more exciting marriage to my beloved manages to outshine everything else around me. Yay!

I am having a good day, you are not mistaken. Why? It just so happens that my mother and I were musing through a beautiful suburb in Sydney on a mission to visit at least five cafés (which we easily achieved). We happened by a delicate boutique with, you guessed it, off-the-rack dresses of the wedding variety. I won’t lie. We um’d and ah’d for about one second and cautiously walked inside. The rest is history. My adorable dress now hangs in my wardrobe like Carrie’s in SATC. Which one could it be...

And the winner is....

We were thrilled to hear that Wendy Makin's dresses shone at the Bridal design awards in Queensland last week. We are a massive fan of Wendy's work and it seems so are many other people.
Wendy won the Classique section, the couture section and was runner up in the Avante Garde section. Wendy's prowess didn't stop there! She was also awarded the Supreme Award.
Here are a few pics from the night - you can tell that Wendy put a lot of work into her designs so her win was well deserved.




We are excited to hear that influences from these designs will be featured in their new range.

Beautiful bouquets

Are you still on the search for the perfect bouquet?
Our new Flowers magazine is now in the shops and it is (sigh) stunning! We have been flooded with emails of love sharing excitement over the magazine - I adore receiving these emails - they make my day!
Usually I show a preview of what's in the new mag before it's on the stands, but this time I was forced to wait. I have been busting to show you these gorgeous bouquets from the shoots.

(Gasp) How wonderful! This divine bouquet is made up of Proteas with Serruria 'blushing brides', eucalyptus buds and leaves and dodder vine.

So very, very pretty - I can just imagine this bouquet in a Cinderella-type fairytale. It is made up of roses (few material ones too) and pearls.

I can see these flowers in a beautiful, romantic garden-style wedding ceremony. A whimsical gown, bare-feet, relaxed groom and some jazz music playing... just to set the scene. Love these flowers and all the feelings they evoke. Bouquet is made up of Earlicheer daffodils, roses and arbutus foliage and blooms.

These flowers scream Autumn in the most creative and interesting way. I love this arrangement and could gaze at it for hours. The combination of all the elements is pure genius... well close (in my books). What are those elements you ask? Roses, echinacea cone flowers and leucadendrons with hypericum berries, eucalyptus tetragona nuts complemented by magnolia and autumn leaves.

Pure elegance! What more can I say? I love the added butterfly on the stem - nice touch!
These flowers are actually silk roses (some of the best I've seen) with berzelia buds and ivy leaves.

I think flowers are such an important aspect of the day. You know how fantastic it makes you feel to have flowers in the home? I think it's a must to have a dash of that feeling on your wedding day. (I could cleverly put these two ideas together saying it's significant to have the wonderful nesting feeling on the day you're marrying the man who will share your new marital home - but it might be stretching it and it hurts my brain. It's Monday after-all.)

An opportunity awaits…

The best way to start planning a wedding is to just take a trip to visit some potential venues. It is all the better when said venues decide to be completely decked out and supply you with tastings of their canapés and wine on offer.
